About the Program
Sam Rit Residency was borne out of the desire to create a flexible, inclusive and authentic residency program in the North Eastern village of Sam Rit, Thailand. We are the first government approved facility of its kind in the region. With additional opportunities such as guided tours, hands-on demonstrations with village locals, to family dinners and market visits, residents can have the chance to inspire new direction and energy in their work whilst escaping from the daily distractions of home/work/school life.
Sam Rit Residency offers open calls with specific projects and date for group of artists. We welcome all who are interested - from artists of all mediums, arts managers and arts workers, academics of all disciplines, researchers and students. This cultural residency program offers a rare opportunity of total immersion into real rural Thai life with the comfort and convenience of a self-contained residence with shared facilities and a support network in place.
Program Objectives
Sam Rit Residency wishes to encourage residents to experience village life and make a conscious effort to engage with locals through ceremonies, events and daily life interactions.
